With your help we have saved 1,381 tonnes of goods from landfill, that's the equivalent of the CO2e emissions from 759 million plastic bags!
And we've distributed these brand new, unopened surplus goods to over 251,000 people living in poverty in the UK. We have also opened our doors to 187 volunteers, referred through local care agencies in Leicester, providing therapeutic and meaningful opportunities for the most vulnerable in our communities. Our volunteers forge friendships, get on buses and help others (rather than being helped), all for the very first time.
Are you a keen walker or rambler who would like to spend more time with someone who also enjoys your favourite activity?
There is nothing better than walking hand in hand, admiring the views together, whether as a couple or as part of a group of friends.
Developing essential life and work skills to benefit themselves and their communities.
It's been incredible and humbling in equal measure.
One farmer wanted to end a relationship, but his lady friend was knitting him a jumper and it would be ‘a waste of wool’.
Goods provided by donors are not always in a suitable form to be delivered to beneficiaries.
Since 2012, in partnership with local social care and health agencies, we've been inviting the most vulnerable in our communities to repack the goods; people recovering from mental ill-health and those with learning disabilities.
